Useful correction notes identify the page or episode, timestamp if relevant, the exact claim or caption, the proposed correction, and the source or reasoning behind it.
Correction types
Corrections may revise copy, clarify uncertainty, update a date, change a map label, adjust a visual caption, replace a source, add a rights note, update provenance, or mark an interpretation as disputed.
Meaningful claim
A sentence, title, caption, map note, name, date, location, culture, polity, or relationship label may need revision.
Source issue
A source may be stronger, weaker, misread, outdated, inaccessible, or missing context.
Rights or credit
A credit, license, museum link, image status, accession number, or ownership/repatriation note may need repair.
How revisions should be handled
Material corrections should be logged or visibly reflected where appropriate. Quiet typo fixes are allowed, but changes that affect meaning, evidence, date confidence, or rights should be traceable.
